How to Fix svchost.exe Memory Hogging Issue

More often than not, after windows start-up, my PC was getting too slow and unresponsive. When I checked the task manager, I noticed that there were quite a few instances of scvhost.exe processes and CPU usage was nearly 100% due to them. Fix this issue and make your Windows run faster.

Svchost.exe is actually a system process belonging to the Microsoft Windows Operating System. It handles processes executed from DLLs. Off late, Microsoft started moving all of the functionality from internal Windows services into .dll files instead of .exe files for the sake of better re-usability. However, this created a little problem as a .dll file cannot be executed directly. Thus, the svchost.exe process was born to facilitate running those .dll files.

What I observed was, the memory hogging issue cropped up only after I turned on Automatic Updates from Microsoft. Fix this issue and make your Windows run faster.

Jika Anda memiliki lebih dari satu akun Facebook, email (atau layanan internet yang membutuhkan password) atau komputer Anda digunakan bersama-sama. 5. Klik Finish.

Agar Anda bisa menggunakannya dengan mudah buatlah ikon baru untuk profil baru Anda:

1. Buat copy shortcut icon firefox dan beri nama baru, misal : Profil Baru
2. Klik kanan icon > properties dan tambahkan kode pada target: -no-remote -p radnetsby (beri spasi antar .exe” dan -no, radnetsby adalah nama sesuai profil yang sudah anda buat) dan klik tombol apply.

Untuk mengetes apakah setting Anda berhasil, maka jalankan Firefox yang lama dan yang baru. Kemudian login dengan akun yang berbeda. Jika login sukses maka Anda telah berhasil menjalankan Firefox secara paralel dengan profile baru.

Bila Anda ingin profile firefox yang baru memiliki add on firefox dan bookmark seperti yang lama, caranya cukup mudah yakni dengan mengopi dulu isi folder profile yang lama ke folder profile yang baru. Lakukan tahapan berikut:

1. Pastikan Anda telah mengaktifkan “ Show hidden files and folder”
2. Buka C:\Documents and Settings\[nama user computer]\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\

Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Laporan Symantec Spam & Phishing bulan ini menyebutkan bahwa spam (pesan elektronik sampah) menyumbang 89,35 persen dari keseluruhan pesan di Internet dalam bulan Maret lalu, turun dari 89,99 persen pada Februari.

Sementara itu, pesan scam dan phishing pada bulan Maret mencapai 17 persen dari keseluruhan spam, lebih sedikit 2 persen dari bulan Februari, demikian laporan Symantec melalui e-mail kepada antaranews.com, Kamis.

Setelah gempa bumi tragis di Haiti dan Cili, tidak ada lagi bencana alam baru yang bisa dimanfaatkan oleh spammer. Spammer kini lebih memfokuskan pada event musiman dan event yang tercatat di kalender seperti liburan Paskah untuk mengirimkan pesan spam.

Berdasarkan ukuran file spam, terjadi peningkatan yang cukup besar pada pesan spam yakni antara 5kb dan 10kb (meningkat lebih dari 10 persen).

Symantec mengamati penurunan serangan phishing secara keseluruhan adalah 3 persen dari bulan sebelumnya. Hal ini terutama disebabkan oleh turunnya volume serangan yang berasal dari toolkit otomatis.

Sebanyak 9 persen URL phishing dibuat menggunakan toolkit phishing otomatis, turun sebesar 35% dari bulan sebelumnya.

Ada dua jenis website phishing berbeda yang teramati dalam serangan tersebut. Jenis pertama dibuat menggunakan toolkit phishing otomatis. TLD yang paling sering digunakan adalah ‘.cz’, yang mewakili Republik Ceko.

Pada kasus ini, konsumen diminta memasukan data pribadi mereka pada halaman “Card Holder Form” untuk memenuhi proses verifikasi palsu tersebut.

Serangan kedua berisi URL dengan domain IP (sebagai contoh, URL sepertihttp://255.255.255.255./index.html). IP tersebut tersimpan dalam server-server yang berbasis di AS. 

URL tersebut diketahui sangat panjang, biasanya lebih dari 700 karakter. Dalam serangan-serangan ini, halaman tersebut menanyakan informasi yang sangat pribadi, namun nomor kartu kredit atau debit bisa dimasukkan secara otomatis.

Yang sebaiknya dilakukan:

• Berhenti berlangganan dari milis-milis sah jika Anda tidak ingin menerima pesan lagi.
• Ketika mendaftar untuk menerima email, periksa kembali item-item tambahan apa saja yang Anda inginkan pada saat yang sama.
• Jangan memilih item yang tidak anda inginkan.
• Selektif dalam mendaftarkan alamat email anda ke situs-situs Internet.
• Hindarilah menampilkan alamat email Anda di Internet.
• Gunakan alamat tersendiri ketika mendaftar pada milis tertentu dan miliki beberapa alamat email untuk berbagai tujuan berbeda, atau carilah layanan email sekali pakai.
• Hapus semua spam
• Hindari mengklik link yang mencurigakan dalam email atau pesan IM, karena bisa saja akan menghubungkan ke situs palsu.
• Disarankan untuk mengetik alamat situs langsung pada browser daripada percaya pada link dalam pesan.
• Pastikan bahwa operating system selalu up to date dengan update terbaru, dan gunakan paket software keamanan yang komprehensif.
• Pertimbangkan solusi antispam yang memiliki reputasi baik untuk menangani penyaringan di seluruh organisasi anda.

Yang sebaiknya tidak dilakukan:

• Membuka lampiran dari email yang tidak dikenal karena lampiran dapat menginfeksi komputer Anda.
• Membalas spam karena membalas email spam akan menghasilkan spam-spam lain.
• Mengisi formulir dalam pesan yang meminta informasi pribadi, keuangan dengan password.

Imperva kemudian mengumumkan 10 password yang paling banyak dipakai sehingga kemungkinan ditebak sangat besar. 

Yakni:

5. iloveyou 

6. princess 

7. rockyou

9. 12345678 

10. abc123

Kesepuluh password tersebut merupakan hasil riset terhadap 32 juta password yang dipakai pengguna RockYou, situs jejaring sosial yang mengalami pembobolan database (berisi data penggunanya) pada Desember 2009. Atas kejadian ini, pihak Rock You segera mengeluarkan permintaan maaf resmi dan meminta penggunanya segera mengganti password mereka agar terhindar dari aksi cyber crime.
